What can cause the canines to go light brown, while the rest of the teeth are okay?

After a recent scale & polish my teeth were white, except the canines, which weren’t yellow…but light brown. My dentist just said it was because they were thicker, but didn’t explain why they were brown, instead of yellow…. or white like the rest

The canine teeth are always a darker shade than the other 4 front teeth.

  1. I think you should trust what your dentists says. People are becoming obsessed about white teeth, when in fact most people do not have brilliant white teeth. As long as there is not evidence of tooth decay then you really shouldn’t worry about it.
