Will white spots go away with reversing of tooth decay?

I have tiny white spots on my teeth on the very top of the top ones, and very bottom of the bottom ones… the dentist has given me a tooth paste to use, as she has claimed this is tooth decay beginning but has said if I care for them well for the next six months, and use this toothpaste it is reversible. Does this mean the spots will return back to tooth color? Is that what happens when you remineralise the tooth?

Sometimes they do return back to normal tooth color; sometimes they don’t. It depends primarily on the depth of the decalcifcation, the frequency that the MI paste (or equivalent) is used, the user’s toothbrushing abilities/work, the composition of the patient’s saliva, and the amount of sugar/acid in the diet. Whatever the case, the calcium/phosphate in the "special" toothpastes will help strengthen the teeth and make them less prone to decalcification continuing (leading to decay).

Hi,
