I have one rotten tooth, which is really brown and noticable when i smile. I went to the dentist for a checkup and he said that it was probably hereditary and that he can give me a veneer, however this will cost £250, and as a student i cannot afford this.

Has anybody had experience with a problem like this, are there any cheaper alternatives, would whitening strips work, even though it is only one tooth?

you can buy tooth bleaching kit for cheaper. You can use it on one tooth, but its possible to get your dentist to build you a mold which will hold the bleach in place overnight. See how much that is. Veneers are usually more expensive than £250.

I have a bond on my tooth. I have two stains that are on my tooth right next to the bond. I’ve tried whitening toothpastes and they help a little, but it does not last through the day. I am afraid to use a whitening tray because I don’t want my teeth to be whiter than the bond. I really want to get rid or these or at least tone them down because it looks like I have food in between my teeth. Help!

Get some whitestrips….you can easily control how white it becomes from day to day…..not to worry…..see if it helps.

Animal Luvr is right. Get the teeth to their whitest shade and then the dentist will color match the shade of the material to your new shade. The filling material will not whiten so if you place it and match the shade of your teeth before they are whitened, then when your teeth are whiter the material will be darker and stick out like a sore thumb..Also whitening strips work to some degree but will not be as good as if the dentist puts on his more powerful solution.

any tips, im already going to get sensodine whitening because i love that toothpaste but i want to see what you recommend as a tooth whitener.

Crest Whitestrips really, really work, kind of expensive but worth it if you want whiter teeth without having to go to the dentist and spend 100’s of dollars.

okay so i broke half of one of my front teeth in 8th grade and had it bonded. I’m a junior and my teeth are SO yellow including the bonded teeth. If i used crest white strips or whatever to whiten my other teeth, how much will it cost for the dentist to match it to my other ones. My family doesnt have a lot of money so a rough estimate would be good. It doesnt seem too complicated..

It wouldn’t be covered by insurance so your parents would have to pay the whole thing and depending on how much of the tooth needs to be bonded. Approx. 150-300..Also depending on where you live

I have a temporary tooth on my front tooth right now. I’m waiting to get a crown b/c I have to save up. (no insurance!) In the meantime, the tooth has discolored and is darker than my natural teeth now, so it looks bad. I’ve tried products that whiten dentures and it doesn’t work. Any ideas?

The acrylic used for temporaries is somewhat porous and it will absorb stain. It is not likely that you will be able to whiten it with anything. They are supposed to be for short-term use, so it usually is not a problem. I do understand your situation, but unfortunately, my answer is no. You will not find a good way to whiten this temporary crown.
