Do chewing gums like HappyDent White really help in making teeth white and preventing tooth decay?

Im a tad sketchy on the whitening part, usually its either baking soda(which tastes bad and will only help remove stains) or if it is a whitening agent I am thinking I dont want to swallow it.
However, sugarfree gum of any kind may help prevent cavities, yes. We often tell patients if you are away from home after a meal and cant brush, you can chew sugarless gum, or swish with water, or chew a cleansing food like apple or cheese. These things do help out. But brushing is by far best,,and dont leave out the floss!

Should you have a white color in and around a extracted tooth?

I have been using salt water and every thing like I’m suposed to but I have a white color in and around my extracted tooth?Is this normal in healing or not?
I did not have any stitches.I hade it pulled on 3-17-08 I hade 3 pulled all together that day but I have hade 9 pulled in total my other ones I hade pulled have done the same thing but they seem to be helling ok.

Did you get stitches?? when i got mine extracted i had stitches…maybe thats all it is but you know wat i do actually remember nasty white gunk stuff building up on the threads…i had my surgeon check it out n he said it wasnt an infection or anything just continue with the salt water…make sure its warm, be careful when you brush, n if you are worried you could just give the office a call n they’ll either wanna look at it or tell you its normal. =]

Will white spots go away with reversing of tooth decay?

I have tiny white spots on my teeth on the very top of the top ones, and very bottom of the bottom ones… the dentist has given me a tooth paste to use, as she has claimed this is tooth decay beginning but has said if I care for them well for the next six months, and use this toothpaste it is reversible. Does this mean the spots will return back to tooth color? Is that what happens when you remineralise the tooth?

Sometimes they do return back to normal tooth color; sometimes they don’t. It depends primarily on the depth of the decalcifcation, the frequency that the MI paste (or equivalent) is used, the user’s toothbrushing abilities/work, the composition of the patient’s saliva, and the amount of sugar/acid in the diet. Whatever the case, the calcium/phosphate in the "special" toothpastes will help strengthen the teeth and make them less prone to decalcification continuing (leading to decay).

How to make your teeth white except for brushing them with a tooth paste?Without special creams ..Suggestions?

I know you said no creams but if you really want really white teeth visit a dentist and ask about bleaching. But if you don’t want to do anything drastic you could just be more careful with what you put in your mouth. It would be best to avoid tea, red wine, and coffee that can stain your teeth. Is getting a white filling at the back or your tooth sore?

I am going to get a white filling put in the back of my tooth.
Is it sore people who have experienced it?

It should not be a problem, but with many fillings (silver or white) the nerve will get irritated as part of the drilling process. If it is sensitive it should be more so at first and then progressively better. If you do have sensitivity and it doesn’t go away have the dentist check the bite to make sure it isn’t too high.
