Is there a home remedy for having whiter teeth?

February 7th, 2010

I brush my teeth once every day before I go to bed, I also drink alot of water. I’m going to start brushing twice and flossing and I know it will help. However, my teeth are really disgusting. My parents won’t let me use the crest white-strips apparently… I don’t know why. So is there any kind of home remedy for having whiter teeth besides brushing and flossing more often?

Just rub ur teeth with lemon juice or strawberries or hydrogen peroxide or baking powder (mixed with a bit of water) & expose to sunlight for about 15 min. every day.

What is the most affordable way to whiten a tooth that can’t be whitened with whitening strips?

February 7th, 2010

I have a front tooth that was hit at some point and has turned slightly yellow from it being partly dead. Because it is not a surface stain, it cannot be whitened with white trip of any kind. I have dental insurance but its only preventative so I need to cover it on my own so I’d like it as inexpensive as possible. Thanks so much :)

you could go to the dentist and ask for a white filling(tooth colored filling) and they can lighten it that way(cheapest) nothing else like whitening toothpaste or crest whitestrips will do it because its internal…otherwise you would have to get a crown(not cheap, looks best)tooth colored filling would be the cheapest:)

How do you whiten teeth with baking soda?

February 7th, 2010

I was just wondering how I can whiten my teeth with baking soda..
Do I first brush my teeth, then use the baking soda? Or the other way around?
I heard that using warm water helps too..
How much baking soda do I put on the toothbrush?
Oh and how often should I whiten them?
Once every other day?
Thanks!

The easiest and most cost effective tooth whitening methods is using a soap bar (preferably containing glycerol), apply it to tooth brush and add half of a teaspoon of baking soda with a sprinkle of salt. I personally do this once-twice a week at most 3 times a week, but I never do this regiment for more than two weeks at a time and never back to back months. The reason is due to the degradation of the enamel which is a result of the baking soda; teeth become brighter when you destroy/clean the dirty coat, this is what baking soda and dentist teeth cleaning method does.

How Can I Get Ridiculously White Teeth?

February 7th, 2010

I’ve always had stained, less than perfect, off white teeth, and I brush every morning and night! How do I get ridiculously white teeth without having surgery?

Even over the counter whitening products will work if you are ‘ridiculous’ about using them!

Has anyone ever used the White Light teeth whitening system?

February 7th, 2010

Does it work?

Using laser treatments to whiten your teeth has become on of the most popular dental cosmetic procedures preformed, along with braces and capping. Laser teeth whitening can produce dramatic results, but know all of the pros and cons before committing to this costly treatment.

You can expect the laser teeth whitening treatment to require several visits to the dentist. Three or four dentist visits are common, depending on how damaged your teeth have become as a result of coffee, smoking, or inconsistent maintenance. You can expect each laser teeth whitening session to last about one hour.

The most popular reason for choosing laser teeth whitening is that that you will see the results immediately. Although any professional tooth whitening treatment will fade over time, you will walk out of the office with noticeably whiter teeth after just one visit. Know that this is partly due to your teeth becoming dry and dehydrated during the hour long exposure to the laser and lights. After several days, the normal saliva in your mouth will begin to dehydrate the teeth and they will return to a slightly darker color. This is one of the most important results to expect and your dentist should advise you about the dehydration process before you leave the office, so you will know what to expect.

That is not to say that laser teeth whitening treatments do not work. They are very effective. In order to get a really good idea of the results, before and after pictures should be taken; you will notice a big difference between the shade of your teeth before the treatment and after, even after the teeth become dehydrated.

You can also expect to follow up the laser treatment with an at home teeth whitening system. This will help with continued whitening during the rehydration process and ensure that your teeth remain as bright as they were when you left the office. Your dentist will recommend the best system for your teeth based on discoloration and sensitivity. Sometimes this is included in the price of laser treatment and the dentist will send you home with a professional kit. If it is not, be sure to ask them which brand of home system they would recommend.

There is another excellent reason to follow up with at home teeth whitening products; your molars may not have been treated during the process, as the dentist makes every effort to isolate the teeth being treated away from the gum line. This is extremely hard to do with the back teeth. If your back teeth show when you smile, and some do, the results may not appear as brilliant as you would like. At home treatments allow for you to whiten the back teeth as well.

I used white brite tooth whitener on my teeth without permission?

February 7th, 2010

My mom bleaches her teeth with white brite and i found the tube in the fridge…

When I was little she let me put the stuff on my front teeth…

A little while back I put tissue paper in my mouth to hold my gums away from my teeth and let the stuff sit for a little while…
(going into highschool and I wanted whiter teeth)

Now my teeth are whiter in some spots than they are in others.

It reminds me of when I’m sick and breath through my mouth, I get these white spots on the tips of my teeth…. Because they get really dry or something…

Did I really screw up, or is it because I had no moisture?
What can I do to fix it?

And I’m never doing that again…
There isn’t a number….
Its on the edges of my teeth… and its not paranoia…

White spots on the teeth are common when using a whitening product and that is what I believe you are seeing. The areas should rehydrate and the spots disappear soon, though the edges of the teeth are normally lighter because they are thinner. The teeth get dehydrated as the agent penetrates the tooth to remove the stain and this happened to me as well…

Hope that helps!

where can I get new gel trays for bleaching teeth?

February 7th, 2010

I lost my gel teeth bleaching trays, that were made by my former dentist. I still have the molds of my teeth. Does anyone know where I can get new trays made? Other than going to the over priced dentists in my (new) city?

If you have the models, then take it to any local dental lab and they will make it for cheap.

February 7th, 2010

Rubbing the teeth with a little baking soda or coarse salt will do the trick
